Animal Should Have Rights for Life

We share 98% of our DNA with the great apes, such as the chimpanzees, and gorillas. One can say that we are “siblings.” Most primates on earth are being threatened with extinction. One of the reasons is that current law grant rights exclusively to human. Animals and all other living creatures are considered human “property.”

The great apes, who are so close to us, are currently recognized by law as only “things.” They don’t have any rights with which to defend themselves. They are used and killed in cruel experiments and often traded commercially. This is irrational and unfair. We should grant animals rights for life.
