Details of primary requests
from NGOs
- A thorough explication of
illegal wildlife trade routes
and the maximum possible penalty
to the accused when convicted
(to the investigative authorities)
- Strict application of Law
for the Conservation of Species
in order to prevent similar
crimes
- Ministry of International
Trade and Industry and Environment
Agency which is responsible
for application of Law for
the Conservation of Species
will cooperate their efforts
with investigative authorities
and local self-government bodies
and conduct on-the-spot inspections
and gather relevant information
- Apply the Law for the Conservation
of Species to the case, designate
a place for the confiscated
individuals to be returned,
and have the responsible party
for illegal importation bear
the cost of return of the confiscated
live animals
- Designate a rehabilitation
center for the orangutans to
be returned and support the
country of origin in promoting
protection of wildlife species
- Prepare a guideline in order
for confiscated live specimen
to be handled in an appropriate
manner (in accordance with
CITES resolution). Also, prepare
adequate temporary care facilities
to provide care to confiscated
live specimen while the disposal
method is being determined,
etc.
- Investigate the actual situation
of traffic of endangered species
of fauna and flora. Revise
the existing law to have animal
dealers register and enable
the competent authority to
order suspension of business
in case of illegal conducts
concerning prevention of illegal
trade
- The central government and
local self-government bodies
will have animals dealers recognize
that trade and keeping of wildlife
animals as pets endanger their
survival as species and will
also educate and raise awareness
of the consumers.
